Google Photos Mobile App Review
Google Photos is a free app with 15 GB of free storage. I mainly use Google Photos to back up pictures taken from my mobile phone. I subscribe to 100 GB of storage space, also known as Google Drive, to ensure I can back up large photos and videos. There are a lot of photo storage apps, such as iCloud, Flickr, and Amazon Photos, to name a few. I have used several of the apps I have named, but I believe Google Photos is the best and very reliable. It has many features, such as photo/video editing, photo books, and sharing photos/albums with users. Let us talk about the rest of the features.
Design
The design of the app is very user-friendly. The arrangement of the icons, from shopping for photos to changing your settings, is very easy to use. The menu is at the bottom of the app and is listed as follows: Photos, Search, Sharing, and Library. The icons have user icons on the photos and albums you share with others, making it easy to know which ones you are sharing for security reasons. The Libray is sorted by your favorites, utilities, archive, and trash. This is also the place where you can add an album.
Usability
On the home screen, the very top of the app highlights all the people, groups, memories of past photos taken, and scenery you have visited. The photos are sorted by the day the photos are taken. Selecting your avatar/picture at the top right corner gives you information about your backup status, storage usage, photo settings, etc. At the top corner is where you can order photo books and canvas prints. Sorting photos and placed in an album, multi-selecting pictures to move or delete, is very easy.
Functionality
The Google Photos App syncs your photos automatically. The settings can be changed if you do not have a large data plan to sync when connected to Wi-Fi. It also has a feature to archive photos that do not contain people, such as bills, screenshots, or pictures of documents. My favorite feature is the search function. You can search for the people by clicking on their faces in the search tab. You can search for pictures by yourself or with others. You can also search with keywords. If you want to see pictures of beaches, it will display all of them. If you search for pets, it will display all of the pictures you have taken with dogs, cats, birds, etc.
Recommendations
I would like to see the app have a way to take photos directly from the app. Their photo editing features are one of the easiest to implement. My suggestion is to be able to apply filters to Photos taken directly on the app. Also, for privacy, I would like to be able to give the photos a timed-based sharing. I would only like them to see a photo or album for one day and have the permission removed automatically.
